This lake is just southwest of the IBM building at the Diagonal 63rd Street. It is a man-made lake created when dirt was needed to build the dam at the Boulder Reservoir in the 1950s. It has an infamous history of being a place to swim without any bathing suits in the 1970s. It didn't take the city long to pass an ordinance that prohibited that activity. You might say that the best views are no longer of the people, rather now it is of the lake, the trees and the mountains.
We had a big snow in Louisville, Colorado and it accumulated on the patio chairs. The sun melted the snow on the back of the chairs and it drooped forward. When I went outside to take some photos, I noticed the chairs and how the snow looked like aliens. I added the glasses in Photoshop to make a humorous image of snow aliens getting a tan in the sun.
This is one of my favorite photos of the beautiful Chautauqua Park and the Flatirons with a light snow in the spring. The Flatirons are part of Boulder Mountain Park. From a landscape perspective, the Flatirons are synonymous with Boulder. The park is part of the Western Mountain Parks Habitat Conservation area presenting us with over a billion years of geologic history. Imagine, this area used to be under a glacier.
