City Park Moonset - Denver Colorado Pictures

The moon is setting here in February. When capturing the moon, its apparent size in a photo is always relative to the foreground. If you use a long lens, you can distance yourself from the foreground and make the moon appear bigger. The various moon photos in the Denver gallery demonstrate this principle precisely. The Pavilion at City Park is available for rental by the public for many events including weddings. It has a wonderful view of the lake and park.

Full moon setting over Denver. Image captured from the City Park Golf course. The building on the left is the Wells Fargo Center, famous for the unusual top. The intent was to provide a roof that would not accumulate snow. The other tall building is the Republic Plaza, which is the actually the tallest building in Denver with 52 stories.

Denver Images - DIA Moonrise

The full moon is shining through the light clouds, rising behind Denver International Airport. The clouds in front of the moon make it appear more like a large planet. As with most moon photos, it is the foreground that makes the difference between an astronomical sighting and an artistic composition. The tent-like roof for the terminal at DIA is made of a Teflon-coated fiberglass material with a thickness of about 0.03" (0.76mm).

Moonset over City Park Lake. The graduating color of the sky is fairly common in the Denver area during sunrise. The park includes the Denver Zoo, the Museum of Nature and Science, two lakes and is just South of the City Park Golf Course.

Denver City Hall is decorated every Christmas Holiday. The colors of the lights change over time; however, each year is simply marvelous.

Moonrise at Capital Building - Denver Photos

Colorado State Capital building. This photo was taken on Federal Blvd just South of Mile High Stadium during a Raiders vs Broncos game in 2005. The dome of the Capital building is actually gold plated. Recently the top of the building has been renovated and private contributions enabled them to refresh the gold.
